NE 425 : Thermo-Fluid Lab.

Overview

  • Conducting physical experiments in the field of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and heat transfer.
  • The student should understand the installation and the idea of working of temperature and pressure measuring devices and devices for measuring flow rate and velocity.
  • The ability to evaluate theoretical applications by conducting laboratory experiments.
  • The ability to interpret engineering scientific phenomena through laboratory experiments.

Intended learning outcomes

● Learn about different devices and means of measuring pressure, temperature and flow rate, and how to use them.● Learn about the working mechanism of different devices and the work of heat exchangers and determine their efficiency.● Understanding and estimating methods of heat transfer by conduction, convection and radiation by measuring temperatures.● The learner will be able to measure the energy loss of the real flow through practical experiments.

Teaching and learning methods

Lectures, practical experiments, panel discussions

Methods of assessments

• Lab test reports and panel discussions, 60 degrees• Final exam (written + practical), of 40 marks.
